MANOEL RIBEIRO CAMP COMBATS MILITARY SIEGE AND NEW ATTEMPTED MASSACRE 6d4q19
“The whole Santa Elina we are going to take !”. Before this statement, the peasants go on repelling with heroism the attack since the end of March, amidst an illegal operation architected by the reactionary forces of the old State, at the Manoel Ribeiro Camp, Cupinguais region, Rondônia (RO). The attack to the peasant masses has been accomplished with the carte blanche of the governor, Marcos Rocha, with the aim to criminalize them and to give up public land to the grileiro landowner. The reactionaries, preparing themselves for a new massacre, have in mind, above all, to stop the fight for the land all over the country, a tatic that is already doomed to failure. 4e6915
The lands occupied nowadays by hundreds of families in the Manoel Ribeiro Camp are the same that, in 1995, were the scene of the Heroic Peasant Resistance of Santa Elina, Corumbiara, ( “Corumbiara Massacre”). Before the odious crimes of the reaction commited by means of a violent massacre, the peasants who fought and resisted have promised to take again that one and all plots of land of the former “Santa Elina Farm” – a giant wasted land grilada by the landownership.
Again, the history is repeated but in a new stage of the imperialism crisis, mostly the crisis of the bureaucratic capitalism that continues in our country, ed by the old bonds of the landownership of the old order. Under such conditions, an insoluble contradiction has been generated: the fight against misery throws the masses for the only possible way out, the struggle for land, given the insatiable fate of the exploiting landlords. In its war development an irremediable situation is being created at each step in which, to exist, the other has to give in.
In this context, in a farse orchestrated by the spine of the old State (Reactionary Armed Forces), under the name of “Peace in the Field Operation”, a new massacre has been prepared, an illegal siege that lasts since March 29th. Trying to disperse the peasant masses in struggle, the military forces aim to undermine their fight disposition through practices of sleep deprivation, harassment, illegal siege and approaches. Yet, failure is resounding.
The war operation has been coordinated by the same butcher of Santa Elina, colonel of the Military Police (PM), José Hélio Cysneiros Pachá, one of the Military Police (PM) officers that commanded the murders and tortures against the peasants in Santa Elina farm, in the 90s. Still today, Cysneros continues with impunity as security secretay of Rondônia. Before this siege, the activity of the militaries in the place, the gunmen (guaxebas), has been covered up. They acted against the peasants and at the service of the landownership, a fact several times denounced by the workers and wide open through the prison of eight of them which happened on March, 23rd.
The coward persons, contradicting the judicial “power” itself, declared they would do the eviction before the deadline. During their attacks, they have prevented the medical care and vaccine for the workers during the worst moment of the pandemic.
Nevertheless, the same rotten reaction faces again the valiant and decided peasant masses, now much more conscious and willing to put an end of the most genuine democracy that this old country lacks, that is, land for those who live and work on it. The democratization of the access to the land, never consecrated during our whole history, will represent an essential step for an accomplished justice for those who make history against those who exploit. But all difficulties will turn out to be insignificant in front of the red flags, barriers raised, words that print banners and echo with the voices: We will not leave the place!
According to the note issued by the National Commission of the Poor Peasant League (L), before maintaining a siege to the Camp, day and night including dawn, the militaries have whipped the families. With the objective to implement psychological torture and maintain tension, they are detonating bombs of moral effect, tear gas, pepper gas and fireworks as well as rubber bullets and helicopter flights over the Camp.
The have been defeated in all the perfomed onslaught, as they were forced to retreat before the fierce resistance of the Manoel Ribeiro’s peasants. Not even their apparatuses, armaments and threats – stating they were going “to carry out another massacre”, “to kill everybody” – not even the bullets fired at the families and so many typical attitudes of the gang were able to intimidate the peasants who doubled their fury before the injustice and cowardice, repelling all atacks with sticks and stones”.
Decided to resist, the families, as well as in many other attempts of invasion of the reactionary forces, with their faces protected and under the fire of their enemies, they chant slogans: Nor that the earth thickens, this land is ours. / One, two, three, four, five thousand, the League moves forward throughout Brasil! / For women to free themselves from all oppression, only the proletarian struggle and revolution!
All over the country and the world, the true democrats take a stand and denounce the crimes and intentions of the butchers who try to accomplish in Rondonia what all the others in the national territory dream of. And it is before the constant and surveillance to the peasants who carry out those who fight for the real democracy that the demoralized military government has seen its plans crumble.
On a banner raised by the peasants in the area, one can read: “ Santa Elina’s lands are soaked with peasant blood. We will not leave the place”. It is under this statement and the several events that occurred there since the middle of 2020 and, especially, in the last days, that these peasant masses have been demonstrating their firmness and courage. They express once more in the history of the Brazilian people struggle that the need of a huge transformation has met with the best people’s children willing to fight and who see in front of them the steps that will take to a bright future, either want or not the dying imperialism and their lackeys.
